Yardley L Norman, 60, of Wakefield passed away peacefully on June 27, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Yardley worked at the University of Rhode Island for 37 years where he was a Lands and Grounds Supervisor until his retirement in August 2017. Yardley was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend with a contagious smile and memorable laugh . He had a great appreciation for the outdoors, spending much of his time fishing, hunting, kayaking, and enjoying the beach with his family. Yardley was a true Rhode Island man with an infatuation for the ocean and seafood. He was a proud father that never missed an educational or sporting event. Yardley was passionate about football and his Pittsburgh Steelers. His everyday attire exhibited his love for the Steelers. On the rare occasions when Yardley wasn’t wearing black and yellow, he was either in Rhody blue or a suit and tie for even the most casual events. Yardley was a bright light with a heart of gold that touched many lives. In addition to his mother, brother, sister, and daughters, Yardley is survived by an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as many friends. Yardley will be greatly missed by everyone. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 3 to 6 pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. Burial services will be private.
