William S. Webster, Jr.

William S. Webster Jr., 89, of Conch Rd., Narragansett, died Friday. He was the husband of the late Mary (Holley) Webster and companion of Marguerite (Perry) Baur. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late William S. Sr. and Lena E. (Card) Webster. Mr. Webster was a W.W. II and Korean US Navy veteran. He was a 1943 graduate of RI State College with a BS in Civil Engineering, a graduate of Naval Post Graduate School with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and received a certificate in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan. He was a Civil Engineer working for the US Navy Civil Service as a Supervisory General Engineer for twenty years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a member of Hope Lodge #25, Unity Chapter #12 and Narragansett Commandery. As a young man he enjoyed fishing out of Pt. Judith with his father. He was the father of Carl W. Webster of Narragansett and Linda E. Lawson of Bath, ME; grandfather of four and great grandfather of four. He was the father of the late Dennis W. Webster, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970, and brother of the late Donald E. Webster. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 10:30 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home.
