William “Ben” Waring, 75, of West Kingston, RI, died Sunday. He was the husband of Marie (Lopilato) Waring. Born in Everett, MA, he was a son of the late Henry T. and Alice K. (Nason) Waring. He was a graduate of Providence College and received his MBA form URI. Mr. Waring was a CPCU in the Insurance field for many years and taught courses at Bryant, RIC, URI and Johnson & Wales. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In his spare time he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and a good cigar. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and his family, who will remember his passion for education and the English language. Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Matthew B. Waring of Wakefield, Christa Waring-Jagisch of New York, and Andrew W. Waring of RI; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Maureen Chainey of Revere, MA and Denise Leigh of Green Harbor, MA. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 10th from 10 -11 AM at The Kateri Tekakwitha Chapel, 84 Exeter Road, Exeter, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
