William C. Thompson, III, 81, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21st, 2026 at the Lakeside Nursing & Rehabilitation in North Kingstown. He was the loving husband of Susan D. (Davis) Thompson. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late William C. Thompson II and Helen S. (Spaney) Thompson.

William worked for many years at Electric Boat as a foreman before retiring. He was an active member of Wakefield Baptist Church, the Order of the Freemasons, and the Family Motorcoach Association. William enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and attending NASCAR races. He cherished the time spent making memories with his wife and being involved in the organizations and activities that meant so much to him.

Besides his wife, Susan, he is survived by a son, William C. Thompson, IV of South Paris, Maine, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a brother, Alexander F. Thompson of Westerly. He was the father of the late Andrew D. Thompson and brother of the late Richard H. Thompson.

A church service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 10 AM in the Wakefield Baptist Church, 236 Main St, Wakefield, RI 02879. Burial will be private.
