William P. Mcphee

October 27, 1933 — December 11, 2010

McPHEE, WILLIAM P. 77, of Wakefield, died Saturday. Born in New Haven, CT, he was a son of the late William J. and Margaret C (Farrell) McPhee. Mr. McPhee was employed for the Sears & Roebuck Company eventually becoming the manager at the store formerly located at Dale Carlia Corner in Wakefield. He was a member of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge, where he had served as treasurer, a former member of the South Kingstown Democratic Committee and helped to form the South Kingstown Committee Against Taxes, the Parish Council at St. Francis Church, and the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Chapter in North Providence. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by four daughters, Debra McPhee of Wakefield, Colleen Coulombe of Ashaway, Marjorie Rayta of Wakefield, and Eileen Bumpus of North Attleboro, MA; eight grandchildren, Joshua Rayta, Adriana McPhee, Nicholas Rayta, Madison Bumpus, Tyler McPhee, Chandler Coulombe, Max Bumpus and Christian Bumpus; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Arnold Rayta.; a brother Donald McPhee of CT; a sister MaryJoan McPhee of CT; and his companion of 25 years, Kathy Cawley of Wakefield. He was the grandfather of the late Jeremy Rayta and Mariah McPhee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Wednesday, 5-8 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3009, Warwick, RI 02886.
