William “Bill” Dwelly, 76, of Tolland, CT, formerly of North Kingstown, RI, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Linda (Wright) Dwelly. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late, Enoch “Bill” Dwelly and Helen (Babcock) Dwelly. Bill grew up in Rhode Island where his parents ran the Babbies Service Station and Store in North Kingstown. He was a graduate of North Kingstown High School and received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He was commissioned into the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant. He served two years active duty and three years in the reserves and spent one year in Vietnam with the Engineer Corps. He received his MBA in Business Administration from the University of Dayton. Mr. Dwelly worked as a Quality Control Engineer for over 42 years. He started his career in 1968 with General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio and retired from Gunther International in Norwich, CT in July 2010. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises in the Caribbean where he enjoyed snorkeling. In his retirement he joined a senior golf league, enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, and watching sports on TV rooting for the Patriots. Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Scott D. Dwelly; his daughter in law Katie Dwelly; his two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dillon Dwelly; his brother Donald Dwelly and his wife Marie; and his two nephews, Mathew and Michael Dwelly. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Thomas Dwelly. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 12:30pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
