IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Charles
O'Malley
March 20, 1946 – March 14, 2026
William Charles O'Malley, 79, of Wakefield, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the devoted and beloved husband of Beverly (O'Brien) O'Malley, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories.
Born in the Smith Hill section of Providence on March 20, 1946, Billy was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Rondina) O'Malley. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969, an experience that remained a source of quiet pride throughout his life.
Following his military service, Bill spent many years as a commercial fisherman out of Point Judith. The sea was not just his livelihood, but his passion, shaping both his character and the rhythms of his life. He was known for his strong work ethic, resilience, and deep respect for the ocean he loved. His last years before retirement were spent as a stationary engineer in the heating plant at the University of Rhode Island.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Beverly O'Malley of Wakefield; his son, Jed O'Malley, and his wife, Alison, of Narragansett; and his daughter, Kasey O'Malley, and her significant other, Darren Frank, of Fall River, Massachusetts. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to his five treasured grandchildren: Maura, Liam, Bridget O'Malley, and James and Andrew Peatee.
He is also survived by his nephews, Brian, Kevin, and Justin O'Malley, along with many cousins. William was the brother of the late, Martin O'Malley, who was married to Jeanne (Holmes) of North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
William was a grateful and dedicated friend of Bill W. His courage, loyalty, and unique sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in William's name to St. Patrick's Academy 244 Smith St., Providence, RI 02908.
