William "Billy" F. Forbes

William “Billy” F. Forbes, 88, of South Kingstown, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at South County Hospital surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of 40 years to Sandra G. (Bergstrom) Forbes. Born and raised in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late William D. and Elsie H. (Northup) Forbes. William was a member of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge and was also a bartender at the Bowling Alley. He worked as a Supervisor for the Department of Motor Vehicles and at the ticket office at the URI Ryan Center, where he enjoyed working all sports events. William was a cameraman for the South Kingstown Town Council. He enjoyed hockey, family events and a great love for animals. William was an Air Force Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Jodi Tefft and her husband Owen, Eric Dyer and his wife Kristin, seven grandchildren, Amie Tefft, Aaron Tefft, Andrew Tefft, Amberly Tefft, Haley Dyer, Mollie Dyer and Emelia Dyer, six great grandchildren, and a loving niece, Holly Forbes Cahill. He was the brother of the late Robert Forbes, Richard Forbes and uncle to the late Peter Forbes. A funeral service for William will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 3 to 6 PM.
