William J. Babcock, 64, of Orchard Avenue, Wakefield, died Friday. He was the former husband of Linda L. Babcock. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late William M. and Zada (Redding) Babcock. Mr. Babcock was a yardman for Arnold Lumber for over 20 years and most recently worked for the South Kingstown School Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 39, V.F.W Post 916 and the Vietnam Vets Chapter 325. He is survived by a step-son, Dennis P. Sousa of Coventry, two step-daughters, Dolores Andrews of West Kingston and Michelle Cappolelli of Coventry, eight grandchildren, a sister Avis J. Burdick of Charlestown, and his companion, Dorothy Rand of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Irene Marshall, Hazel Smith, Edward Parker and James Parker. A funeral service will be held Tuesday December 23rd at 11 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in Perryville Cemetery, Perryville. Visiting hours are Monday 5-8 PM.
