Warren A. Rowlett, Sr., 87, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 in Lancaster, NH. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Arthur and Ellen Rowlett and was raised in Cranston, graduating from Cranston High School in 1942. After graduation, Warren served in World War II in the South Pacific from 1942 until the war’s end. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Warren A., Jr. and Michaela Rowlett of Narragansett; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Paul Dromgoole of South Kingstown; his grandchildren, David W. Rowlett, Toni M. Ravis, Warren A. Rowlett, III Mary Beth Dromgoole, Erin L. Dromgoole, and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Cole of Walpole, MA; a niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by his friend, Louise Burbank of Lancaster, NH and his nephew, David Cole. Warren lived most of his adult life in Gloucester, RI. He was employed as a machinist at BIF/General Signal until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Rowlett was an avid outdoorsman and upon retirement, he moved to Guildhall, VT where he pursued his love of hunting, fishing, wildlife and gardening. He was active in local government in Guildhall, serving as Town Selectman and Cemetery Commissioner, was also a Mason and a member of the Narragansett Salt Water Fishing Club in Matunuck. A funeral service will be held Saturday April 30, 2011 at 9:30 AM at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be Friday 5-7 PM.
