Virginia Laputz

Virginia Laputz, 95 of Narragansett, RI, formerly of Ledyard, CT, passed away February 26, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Laputz for 67 years. Born in New London, CT, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Leila Gray and was predeceased by two brothers, L. Dean and Leland Gray. She is survived by two children Lori Henry and her husband Gary of Narragansett, RI and Leslie Laputz of Abington, MA; five grandchildren Sarah, Kristin, John, Kelli, and Amy; five great-grandchildren Kaydence, Robert, Kamryn, Evelyn, and William. Mrs. Laputz graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1944 and worked at the Norwich State Hospital before leaving to raise her family. She was the Sunday school music director for the Ledyard Church and the Ledyard-Gales Ferry Baptist Church. She also served as pianist of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ledyard prior to her relocation to RI. She was very active in the Grange, serving as Master of Ledyard Grange, CT State Pianist and as a CT State Junior Deputy. Her hobbies included music, embroidery, crossword puzzles, traveling, and raising kids. A memorial service will be held on March 26 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Narragansett in Narragansett, RI. The service will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page.
