Virginia Arlene Dowd

Virginia A. Dowd (Bailey), 56, of Wakefield, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at home. She was the wife of John E. Grimshaw, Jr. for 14 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Elwood D. and Hazel (Wyman) Bailey. Virginia was a caretaker at Starr Rehabilitation Center for many years before retiring. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, Robert Bailey of Bradford, Matthew Dowd of Providence and Brendan Dowd of Washington, DC; four sisters, Brenda Mineo of Ct, Terry Bailey of Hope Valley, Joann Bailey of Westerly and Lori Lallo of Bradford; a brother, Frank Bailey of Westerly and two step-sisters, Mary Purington-Bailey and Derden Mansir both of ME. She was the sister of the late Michael Bailey. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, 4-6 pm with a funeral service at 6 pm in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be private.
