Virginia E. Anthony, 83, of Wakefield, died Sunday. She was the wife of Richard C. Anthony, they were married 63 years. Born in Branford, CT, she was a daughter of the late George and Selma (Osterholm) Grebay. She was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport and she received her Nursing Diploma from Union Hospital in Fall River, MA in 1946 as part of the Cadet Nurses Program, during World War II. Mrs. Anthony was a Registered Nurse for many years, before retiring. She was a classically trained pianist and she enjoyed playing the piano, listening to classical music and needlepoint. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Kenneth G. Anthony of South Kingstown and Richard S. Anthony of Coventry; two sisters, Edna Johnson of Minnesota and Winifred Lynde of Maryland; and two grandchildren, Jason R. Anthony of South Kingstown and Robert W. Anthony of Cumberland. A celebration of her life will be held Friday at 11 AM at the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
