Vincent Rudolph Dr. Turco

Dr. Vincent Rudolph Turco (Bob) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 6. Dr. Turco was born in 1930 in Westerly, to the late Natale and Rosina (Russo) Turco. Married 53 years to his beloved wife LaVerne (Lovey) Turco (Kiss). Survived by his children, Patricia McConnell of Narragansett, Katherine Turco of AK , Vincent J.P. Turco of Kingston and Keith Turco of CO. He was pre-deceased by his oldest son, Nat Turco of California. He leaves behind four grandchildren Molly and Adam McConnell; Barbara “Rae” and Joseph V.N. Turco. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Margaret Gomes and survived by two sisters, Claire Peduzzi of Westerly and Esther O’Neill of Pawcatuck, CT and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Westerly HS in 1948. He attended Providence College and in 1955 received his medical degree from the Ohio School of Podiatry. Dr. Turco did his residence at Chicago School of Podiatry in 1956 and set up his practice in Wakefield RI from 1956 to 1996. Dr. Turco was a lifetime member of RI Podiatry Association. He helped organize and was the 1st president of youth football in South County. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Wakefield since 1958 and served as president from 1972 to 1973. He was a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Turco also served as the chairman of the South Kingstown Democratic Town Committee from 1977 to 1983. He was a staff member for the South County Health Center from 1976 to 1996. He served on the Board of Directors of the Thundermist Health Center for 10 years. Dr. Turco also volunteered at the South County Museum in Narragansett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 AM Saturday November 14th at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday November 13th from 4 – 7 PM.
