Valerie A. Maguire (Major), 74 of North Kingstown, passed away on October 12, 2014, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late David B. Maguire. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Lyman F. Major and Josephine (Bennett) Major. She was a housekeeper at the Christian Brothers Center in Narragansett for many years. She loved her children and Foxwoods. She loved to dance, and could always be counted on to dance the “Hully Gully” with her sisters at many family “times”. She is survived by two sons and their spouses, David E. Maguire and his wife Catherine of Woonsocket, Timothy J. Maguire and his wife Lori, of Vero Beach, Florida, three daughters, Karen D. Shaw and her husband Ralph, of North Kingstown with whom she made her home, Valerie A. Fry and her husband Rodman, of West Warwick, Patricia A. Calise and her husband Matthew, of Hamilton, OH. In addition to her children, she is survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Johnson, of Narragansett, Carol Lacy, of Warwick, Marilyn Jones, of Cranston, Phyllis Holmes in Spring Valley, California, Patricia Montecalvo, of Providence, and a brother, Lyman Major, Jr. of Pawtucket. She was predeceased by her daughter Alice D. Maguire, and brothers Ronald Major, Norman Major and sister Sandra Peryea. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 am in Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Wednesday, 5 – 8 pm.
