Thomas J. Wheeler

Thomas J. Wheeler, 95, of Post Road, Perryville, died Monday at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Lillian (Rush) Wheeler, they were married November 1940. Born in Toronto, Canada, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Lily (King) Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler trained U S Army Air Corps soldiers as air craft and engine mechanics during WW II. He was director of training of Allens School of Aeronautics in Warwick, RI. He was a helicopter pilot for Copters Unlimited for 10 years in Warwick and Wiggins Airways in Norwood, MA for over 20 years before retiring. Mr. Wheeler was a Past Master of Hope Lodge # 25, a charter member of Wakefield Rotary and played with Wess Goff in the Jazz Strollers. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Thomas H. Wheeler of South Kingstown; a daughter Ruth Ann Barker of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services will be private.
