Thomas Davis Price, Jr., 84, Commander U.S. Navy, a longtime resident of Saunderstown, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016. Born in Wilkinsburg, PA, on February 16, 1932, Thomas was the oldest of two siblings. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his 34-year career in the Navy, he served on the USS Canberra (CA62), USS Fort Snelling (LD30), USS Lookout (ANG-2), USS Boston (CA69), and USS Forrestal (CV69). While he was stationed in Turkey in 1956, he met his beautiful wife of 58 years After relocating to Rhode Island, he retired as USN Commander in 1983. Thomas is survived by his wife Saime Price, brother Robert Price, sister-in-law Gunni Price, sister-in law Beyhan Erkeskin, nieces and nephews, Sedat Erkeskin, Vedat Erkeskin, Yasare Calvo, Yasar Varsen, Arif Varsen, many great and grand nieces and nephews, and beloved friends. Thomas is remembered as caring, kind, and extremely intelligent. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, 10 am - 12 Noon at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Burial with military honors will follow at 12:30 pm in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
