Thomas A. Matheson, 77, of Boston Neck Road, Narragansett, died Sunday, after a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of Margo (Barber) Matheson, they were married 48 years. Born in Springfield Center, NY, he was a son of the late Mathes and Evelyn Matheson. He graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1949 and he was a graduate from URI. Mr. Matheson was employed as an administrator for the Dow Chemical Company for 38 years, retiring in 1994. He was a Master Gardner from URI, he loved working in his yard, being outdoors and was a gifted piano player. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Besides his wife he is survived by four sons; Eric Matheson of Cumberland, David Matheson of Attleboro, MA, Christopher Matheson of Hudson, NH and Tim Matheson of Narragansett; three grandchildren; Jeffrey Matheson and twin granddaughters Jessica and Nicole Matheson; a brother, Edward Matheson of Arizona and a sister, Doris Zuffoletti. He was the brother of the late Mildred Donnelly, Robert and James Matheson. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield.
