Thomas Rae Malcolm, 76, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at South County Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sheila (Weir) Malcolm for 52 years. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late James and Esther (Partridge) Malcolm.

Thomas worked as a police officer for 25 years with the Windsor Locks Police Department. During that time, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Following his retirement, he enrolled in school for two additional years to become a surgical technician and later worked at Baystate Memorial Hospital in Springfield, MA, as well as Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. A Vietnam era Coast Guard Veteran, he continued to enjoy fishing and boating throughout the years. Some of his favorite memories were made at his family lake house in Maine where family and friends often gathered to enjoy pontoon boat rides and trips to Acadia National Park. Tom was a proud 17-year member of the Holyoke Caledonian Pipe Band where he served as a Drum Major.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Tara Malcolm D'Arcy and her husband, Mark, Caitlin Malcolm Lennon and her husband Scott, six grandchildren Seana, Logan, Wyatt, James, Tori, and Skylar, two siblings, James Malcolm III (Alice) and Cyrilla Shaw (Fred) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Thomas will be held on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, from 9 - 10AM followed by a service at 10AM in St. Peter's By the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central Street, Narragansett, RI, 02882. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Services are under the care of Avery-Storti Funeral Home
