Thomas W. Dittmar, 67, of South County Trail, Charlestown, died unexpectedly Tuesday at home. A longtime Narragansett resident, he was the husband of Jeanne (Fish) Dittmar. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Carl & Louise (Hutter) Dittmar. Mr. Dittmar was a lifelong Point Judith commercial fisherman and former owner of the F/V Jeanne. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam conflict, stationed in Point Judith. Besides his beloved wife he leaves two daughters, Kristine Maletta and Kimberly Iemma; a son, Ronald Iemma, and 4 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Friday 6-8 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Point Judith Fisherman’s Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 386, Narragansett, RI 02882.
