Thomas V. Dineen

December 31, 1931 — January 23, 2020

Thomas V. Dineen, 88, of Charlestown, RI and formerly of Longmeadow, MA, passed away Thursday January 23rd. He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peg" (McCarthy) Dineen for 62 years. Born in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, MA, he was a son of the late Thomas and Anna (Kennedy) Dineen. Mr. Dineen was an Environmental Claims Specialist for the Hartford Insurance Group. He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife enjoyed skiing in Europe, and after retiring they wintered in Naples, Florida. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in West Springfield, MA and the American Legion in Ludlow, VT. Besides his wife he is survived by six children, Sheila Hurley and her husband Tom of Wilbraham, MA, Jack Dineen and his wife Jennifer of Huntington, MD, Dan Dineen and his wife Tonia of Suffield, CT, Tim Dineen and his wife Tracy of Wilbraham, MA, Sue ONeill and her husband Chris of Stevensville, MI, and Meg McMahon of Jamestown, RI; seven grandchildren, Peggy ONeill, Danny ONeill, John Dineen, Ryan Dineen, Maggie McMahon, Grace Dineen, and Seamus Dineen. He was the brother of the late Kathleen Grimes and Mary Reilly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday January 27th, at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, Charlestown, RI. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South County Hospital, Development Office, 100 Kenyon Avenue, Wakefield, RI 02879.
