Thomas “Tommy” H. Cahir, 85, of South Bend, Indiana and Narragansett, RI, died Friday, June 6, 2025 surrounded by his family in Rhode Island. He was the loving husband of Maureen H. (Crowley) Cahir. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Henry T. Cahir and Anne F. (Brooks) Cahir.
Summers in Narragansett were a reflection of Tommy’s deep love for bringing family together by the sea. He was known for his storytelling and sharp sense of humor, always ready with a tale or a laugh. Every day spent with his beloved wife was a gift, an ineffable bond nearly 60 years in the making. He shared laughter and an occasional cigar with his brother on the deck, pondering both the small details and the vast mysteries of life. Tommy cherished moments of stillness, finding joy in the quiet art of doing nothing, grateful for a life that graced him with so much love.
Tommy enjoyed golf most of his life, for its challenges and beautiful courses. Most of all, because of the friends and the fun it came with. In his younger years, he was a talented athlete, excelling in track and baseball during high school and college. He proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He worked in operations for The Fuller- O’Brien Corporation for 25 years.
Besides his wife Maureen, he is survived by his children, Claire Cahir and her husband Geoff, Neil Cahir and his wife Sarah, Thomas Cahir and his wife Lena, Daniel Cahir, and six grandchildren, Chloe, Henry, Phoebe, Gus, Adare, and Sienna. He was the brother of the late Maryann Griffo and Michael Cahir, and father of the late Matthew Cahir.
Life will never be the same without our beloved patriarch.
