Thomas A. Dick Cahir

April 17, 1927 — January 20, 2018

Thomas A. "Dick" Cahir, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2018. He was the husband of Mary M. (McCaffrey) Cahir for 40 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Ann (Geever) Cahir. Dick was an employee for Uniroyal Rubber Co. for 40 years before retiring; a Korean War Army Veteran; a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church; a member of its mens group; was an avid golfer and sports fan. Besides his wife he is survived by his sister, Helen Foeri of Pawtucket and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ann McAreavey, John and William Cahir. His funeral will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 8:45 am from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial with military honors will follow in R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett, RI 02882, in his memory.
