Theresina (Geraldine) Scully

Sister Theresina Scully, C.P., a sister of the Cross & Passion, died peacefully on March 24, 2023, at Bayview at Scalabrini in North Kingstown, R.I. Born Geraldine Scully in Hartford Connecticut she was the daughter of late James and Elizabeth (Mangan) Scully. She was a graduate of St. Brigid’s School and Northwest Catholic High School in Connecticut.

As a community member Sister held many leadership positions within the Congregation. As a noted educator in the Diocese of Providence she constantly challenged her students to be the best they could be. She served as Vice Principal of Prout High School and was Principal of Bishop McVinney School in Providence where she received the NCEA award for her Innovative Life Skills Program ranking Bishop McVinney in the top 25 most innovative elementary schools in the country. Sister last served as Administrator of Our Lady of Calvary Retreat House in Farmington Ct.

Sister is survived by her brother James (Noreen) and sister, Patricia Scully, as well as her nephew, James and niece, Kristen (Randall) and their children. She is predeceased by her brother, John.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 in the church one hour preceding the Funeral Mass (10 am -11 am) at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am.. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sisters of the Cross & Passion Retirement fund. P.O. Box17372, Smithfield, R.I. 02917.
