Thelma B. Haas, 91, of Kingston, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Haas for 62 years. Thelma was born in Johnston, RI and was the daughter of the late Frank and Tomasina (Palizza) Ballirano. She was the sister of the late Vincent Ballirano and Maria Ronzio of North Hollywood, California. She is survived by four children Maria, Paul and Michael Haas of Wakefield, and Jonathan (Susan) Haas of California, MD; and two grandchildren Brian and Rachel Haas. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and auntie. She was also a dedicated teacher. Thelma taught kindergarten at the Stepping Stone Kindergarten in South Kingstown for 30 years, and had a lasting influence on over 1000 students. She was a Trustee at Christ the King Parrish in Kingston, served on the bereavement committee at Christ the King, volunteered at Assumption Parrish in Providence, and delivered meals for Meals-on-Wheels. She received the South County Hospital Healthcare System Thanksgiving Tuesday Award November 26, 2002 honoring ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM Friday December 30th at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Thursday, December 29th 4-7 PM at the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield.
