Teresa Marie Varsen, 53, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and local to Narragansett, Rhode Island, unexpectedly passed away in her home on May 20, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Arif Y. Varsen for 24 years. Married on October 14th, 1995, their love was strong and beautiful and through commitment and pure admiration for the other, their marriage was always full of happiness. Born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of James David Orlowski and Suzanne Carol Profit and the best friend and sister of Jackie Lynn Orlowski. She grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, and earned a degree in computer programming at the University of Southern Colorado. Teresa was a successful software analyst for over 20 years at GTECH Corporation and International Gaming Technology (IGT). She later worked at Simpatico Software Systems as a Senior Software QA Engineer for 14 years. At her work, she was known as “Mother Teresa,” for her endless support and patience with her colleagues. A natural puzzle solver and dedicated problem resolver, she was passionate about discovering the answers not only in her work, but in her home life through jigsaw puzzles and raising two accomplished daughters. She is survived by two children, Sydney Hatice Varsen, 23, and Lauren Riley Varsen, 21. Sydney recently graduated from the University of South Florida in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in biological health sciences and Lauren is in her third year at Drexel University with a major in electrical engineering. She was their role model and the most caring, honest mother. Teresa was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful and hilarious memories. Besides spending time with her family, Teresa had a passion for walking along the beach in search of the perfect conch shell, reading sci-fi novels, and playing with their dog, Brody, and cat, Bandit. In her younger years, she loved listening to the rock bands KISS and Queensrÿche, and one of her most fond memories was meeting the lead singer of the latter, Geoff Tate. Through her generous and loving personality, she touched the lives of many. She always had a home for relatives to stay, went the extra mile to make sure others were supported, and fearlessly volunteered for a challenging task. She was genuine and caring with the biggest, most thoughtful, heart. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page, “The Varsen Daughter’s Education Fund,” will be developed to support her children’s college funds.
