Suzanne C. Kenyon

June 17, 1906 — July 16, 2009

Suzanne C. Kenyon, 103, of Diane Drive, Kingston, died Thursday, July 16th. She was the wife of the late Edward C. Kenyon, whom she married October 3, 1931. Born June 17, 1906 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Carrie (Van Tassell) Whitaker. In New Jersey, she helped to organize and became President of the Westwood High School Band Parents, which help to raise money for new band uniforms. Mrs. Kenyon sold Raggedy Ann Doll’s here in Rhode Island and she is credited with making thousands of them and sending the dolls all over the world. After the Korean War she knitted and collected baby articles to be sent to the Harry Holt Orphanage in Korea. After moving to Rhode Island she became a member of the Kingston Congregational Church, the South County and Wickford Art Associations, the Women’s Club of South County, the South County hospital Auxiliary, and she was a member of the Triangle Club of Fairway Village in Largo, FL. Surviving are two children; Edward E. Kenyon of Laurel Springs, NJ and Carolyn M. Miller of Bemidji, MN; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be at 2 PM Monday, July 20th in the Kingston Congregational Church, Kingston.
