Stephen C. Wassmus

Stephen C. Wassmus, 45, of Charlestown, died unexpectedly Friday, while swimming in New Hampshire. He was the fiancé of Stephanie Brown. Born in Boston, MA he was a son of William Brown of New Hampshire and Isabelle (Crosby) Brown of New Jersey. Mr. Wassmus was Vice-President of consumer lending at Sovereign Bank for the past eight years and previously had worked for Fidelity Investments. He loved the ocean, nature, animals, running with his dog Sassy and was totally devoted to his family, especially his children. Surviving besides his fiancé and parents are two children; Shauna N. Wassmus and Brendan S. Wassmus, both of Westwood, MA; a brother Bruce Wassmus of New Jersey; and a step-daughter, Michaela R. Brown of Charlestown. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Tuesday 5-8 PM. A time of remembrance and celebration will be held Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the Blue Shutters Town Beach, 469 East Beach Road, Charlestown.
