Stephen Anthony Grimes

Stephen Anthony Grimes, 61, of South Kingstown passed away March 3, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Clinton and Virginia (Holland) Grimes.

He was the husband of Wendy (Northup) Grimes; father of Ashlee Grimes and her fiancé Michael, Brett Grimes; step-father of Stacee Gorman and her husband Jamie, Coree Mercier and her husband Shawn and Daniel Mercier; brother of Deborah Castrovillari, Christopher Grimes, Richard Grimes and the late William and Linda Grimes; grandfather of Zoey, Mikey, Ke’Andre, Kayleeona, Kaya, Keyaira, Keneisha, Opal, and Ellie; great grandfather of Anastasia.

Steve worked as a groundskeeper at The University of Rhode Island for many years. He was a graduate of South Kingstown High School class of 1979. He was a longtime faithful worker and member of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge and was always willing to help everyone and anyone in need. Steve enjoyed growing dahlias, making his HuggyBear Carrot Cakes, and Quahauging in Salt Pond. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golfing.

A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, High St., Wakefield. Burial is private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Kingstown Elks, 60 Belmont Ave, Wakefield, RI 02879.
