Sonja Marjorie Kenyon (Pearson), passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, in West Kingston, RI. Born in Wakefield, RI, she was the daughter of the late Jon Severt Pearson and Marjorie Louise Pearson (Williams).

She was predeceased by her brothers Robert Roy Pearson, Carrol Severt Pearson, and by her first husband, John A. Gilman (2014) and second husband, Robert W. Kenyon (2022)

She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Ann Gardner (Gilman) of Richmond, Sharon Kenyon Blackmar of Richmond, and Sara W. Kenyon of South Kingstown; three grandchildren, Derek Gardner, Steven Gardner, and Scott McKay; one great-grandchild, Easton Andrews Gardner, and several nieces and nephews

Sonja grew up in Carolina, Rhode Island. She graduated from Westerly High School in 1956, and was employed by the Industrial Bank, Kenyon Mills, and as a realtor in South County.

Sonja loved living in South County and learning all its history, visiting the beaches and birdwatching. Sonja loved gardening and was a past president of the Arbutus Garden Club, of which her mother was a founding member and past president. Sonja enjoyed singing in church choirs (Carolina Baptist, Shannock Baptist, and Cross's Mills) and with her brothers Bob and Carrol at family events, with her sister-in-law Dorothy playing the piano.

Sonja loved dogs and always had a rescue by her side. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations, sponsorships, or adoptions be made to any local animal rescue shelter in her memory animalrescueri.org or a donation to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care.
