Obituary

Sister Rose Alfieri, C.P of the Mother of Holy Hope, (Sr. Andrew Joseph) died peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston, RI.

She entered the Sisters of the Cross and Passion in 1959 and was finally professed in 1965. Sister Rose was Coordinator of Religious Education at St. Rocco's in Johnston for many years. She also taught at Prout High School in Wakefield, RI and St. James School, Long Island, New York.

She was the daughter of the late Umberto and Benedetta (Varzichelli) Alfieri. She is predeceased by her brothers Sabato and Anthony, and sisters, Carmela, Mary, and Benedetta. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Being one of six children, she followed their lives with pride and enthusiasm. Often, she talked to her nieces and nephews when they were young and their growing experiences.

Sister Rose was a contemplative person. She prayed for a deeper experience of the Paschal Mystery to which she committed herself to her profession. This spirituality she gave in time and talent to serve others and help them through the difficult times of their lives.
