Shirley Tardiff, 62, of Carolina, RI, passed away Saturday, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Tardiff for 43 years. Born in Cranston, she was a daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Amaral) Almeida. Mrs. Tardiff’s husband served in the United States Coast Guard and she had a great ability to create a home wherever they were stationed. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, antiquing, and was a loyal supporter of the Toys for Tots Foundation. Besides her husband she is survived by three children and their spouses, Nikki and Joseph Tiernan of Newport, Brian and Jackie Tardiff of Coventry, and Courtney and Richard Harmon of Colchester, CT; six grandchildren, Ethan, Breana, Jacob, Samuel, Cy, and Alex; four sisters, Loretta DaSilva of East Providence, Roberta Duncan of Vacaville, CA, Elaine Almeida and Maryann Almeida, both of East Providence; five brothers, twins John and James Almeida of RI, Michael Almeida of Warwick, Stephen Almeida of Warren, and Ronald Almeida of East Providence; and a cherished cousin Pearl O’Dell of Seekonk, MA. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Almeida. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Monday, Sept. 14th from 10 - 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am.. Burial will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
