Sharyn L. Orton

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Dr. Sharyn Orton announces her passing on March 30,2025 after a brief illness.

She was born Aug 5, 1954 in Minnesota and raised in Sharon, Mass. After years of schooling and a career allowing her to live in several states, she retired in Rhode Island to live by the ocean. She enjoyed time with family, long walks on the beach and volunteering to protect the coastal environment.

Sharyn was an Epidemiologist employed by the American Red Cross, the FDA, Medicept and as a consultant focusing on medical devices and regulatory affairs. She held degrees in Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

She was devoted to public health, the environment, equal rights, and most of all her nieces and nephews: Shannon, Matthew, Ryleigh and Jameson.

She leaves behind her sister Kim (Rick) Mullen, her brother Scott (Tara) Orton and beloved grandnephews Arlo, Oliver and Archer. She was predeceased by her parents James and Sandra Orton.

At her request there will solely be a private memorial held by family.
