Sharon M Carney

December 13, 1946 — March 3, 2022

Sharon M. Carney, 75, of Wakefield passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 peacefully in the comfort of her home. She was the wife of John “Jack” Carney for fifty-six years. Born in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harold F. and Marjorie (Larson) Coffin. Besides her husband she leaves her daughter, Kathleen Babbitt and her husband John; their children Andrew and Kasey Babbitt; her son, Kevin Carney and his wife Deborah; their children, Nolan, Abigail and Dillon Carney; her brother, Harold Coffin and his wife Teresa; sister Debra O’Neill; brother Dennis Coffin and his wife Kathy; sister Norma Jean Norris and husband David. She was the sister of the late Nancy Stanahan and Gregory Coffin. Sharon worked as a crossing guard at Peace Dale Elementary school before working in the Narragansett School system cafeteria for many years. Later she worked as a preschool assistant before starting her own private in-home daycare. She was a cofounder of S.K. Forest Fire Ladies Auxiliary and the Union Fire District auxiliary. Sharon enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, searching for sea glass at the beach, cruising and traveling with family and friends, and loved her grand dogs. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11:00 am in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Visiting hours will be Monday, March 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
