Sara B. Purnell

Sara B. Purnell, of Wakefield, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, at South County Hospital in Wakefield, RI. Born in Stillwater, OK on August 2, 1969, she was the beloved daughter of Richard F. Purnell and Elvia E. Purnell. Sara attended South Kingstown High School and the University of Rhode Island. She worked as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in the State of Rhode Island and prior to that she worked in administration at the University of Rhode Island. She had a passion for gardening, cooking, cycling and running. Sara was blessed with an empathetic spirit and the capacity to express that empathy in a wholesome way that was beneficial to others. In addition to her parents, Sara is survived by her three siblings: David Purnell, of Jamestown, RI; Rachel Purnell, of Burlington, VT; and Jededia Purnell, of Providence, RI. Sara was buried at Saint Francis Cemetery in Wakefield, RI. Due to Covid-19, a Catholic Mass will be held at a later date.
