Obituary

Sandra Jean (Oliver) Weeks, 79, of Narragansett, RI died peacefully on May 18, 2026, following a courageous fight with cancer. Sandra (Sandy) was born in Providence, RI on July 16,1946 to parents Angelo and Phyllis Oliver.

Education was very important to Sandy. She graduated from Cranston East High School in 1964, and then received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Roger Williams University. Later in life, she returned to school to complete postgraduate social work at Old Dominion University in Virginia. Sandy was a social worker for the state of Rhode Island for over 30 years.

Anyone who Sandy knew of her love for the water. She spent summers growing up on Narrow River with her best, lifelong friend, Linda, and eventually settled down in Mettatuxet. Her summers were spent boating and swimming on the river and at the beach. Sandy became a lifeguard at age 16 and then went on to teach swimming /life-saving lessons for numerous decades.

Sandy also had a love for animals. There wasn’t a creature on Earth that she didn’t have compassion for. She gave lots of love to the family dogs, Bunny Boo and even the cats (that she was highly allergic to!) Sandy also loved to feed the deer in the back yard. Sandy’s greatest love was for her family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Kristin (Halvorson) O’Malley (of Narragansett), stepdaughters, Colleen Weeks, Michelle Hayes (Ben) (of Tennessee) and stepson James Weeks Jr. (of Narragansett), Grandchildren Ava O’Malley, Patrick Duckworth, Meghan Asiedu, Andrew Duckworth, Justin St. Vincent, Elizabeth Hayes, Benny Hayes, Jordan Weeks, Joshua Weeks, and Jacob Weeks. Great grandchildren Trenton, Colton, and Marianna. She also leaves her sister, Karen Crowe and brother-in-law, Ed Crowe (of Warwick).
