Samuel E. Whaley, Jr.

Samuel E. Whaley, Jr, 82, of South Kingstown, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 30, 2019. He was the loving husband of 57 years to Sylvia (Pierson) Whaley. Born in South Kingstown he was the son of the late Samuel E. Whaley, Sr. and Thelma (Stone) Whaley. Mr. Whaley was a carpenter and builder for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Perryville Bible Church where he served as a trustee. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Samuel E. Whaley, III and his wife Darlene, and Sharon Gladu and her husband Dennis; his grandchildren, Stephanie Peno and her husband Dustin, Sr., Jacqueline and Josephine Gladu; his great-grandchildren, Dustin Jr., Donovan, and Darren; his brother, George Whaley and his wife Karen. He was predeceased by his sisters Harriet Henry and Julia White. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10am in Perryville Bible Church, 220 Moonstone Beach Rd, Wakefield. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 5-7pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Perryville Bible Church.
