Samuel E. Browning

Samuel E. Browning, 77, of Charlestown, died Monday. He was the beloved husband of Clara (Mikna) Browning for 48 years. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Samuel and Clara (Tucker) Browning, and stepson of the late Arthur Perrault. Mr. Browning was a carpenter for the carpenters union for many years. He was a member of the Little Rhody Model A Club, and the Cross Mills Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed writing poetry, singing, playing the harmonica, bowling, and in his earlier years, hunting and fishing. Besides his wife he is survived by three children, John Browning of Charlestown, Steven Browning of Charlestown, and Kathy Sherman of Richmond; a stepbrother, Kenneth Perrault of Ashaway; and a stepsister Marjorie Folwer of Griswold, CT. Visiting hours will be held at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday from 9-11 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will be in Perryville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cross Mills Baptist Church, PO Box 1165, Charlestown, RI 02813.
