Salvatore M. Calabro, 88, of Narragansett, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Antonia Calabro. He was the beloved husband of Leatrice (Villari) Calabro and they were married for 66 wonderful years. Salvatore grew up on Federal Hill. He attended college classes at Bryant University in Providence, before enlisting in the United States Army and served for 4 years. Salvatore moved from Providence to North Providence, where he raised his son and lived for 40 years. He worked at Schoolhouse Candy as a Plant Manager. After 30 years, Salvatore retired and moved with his wife to Narragansett. In his retirement, he became the owner of The Landing restaurant in Galilee. Salvatore had always had an admirable work ethic. In his spare time, he enjoyed investing in the stock market. But, above all else, Salvatore cherished his family. His family and grandchildren were the loves of his life. He will be greatly missed. Besides his wife, Salvatore is survived by his son Thomas Calabro and his wife Lisa; his grandchildren Michael, Thomas, and Matthew Calabro; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Nicolina Magnelli, Carmello Calabro, Angelina Petrangelo, and Josie Carrier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett. Visitation will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 9-10am at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, 72 Church St., Cranston.
