Ruth Seekell

Ruth Palmer (Williams) Seekell died peacefully at South County Hospital in Wakefield, RI on July 22, 2015 at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of the late LCDR Warren W. Seekell. Ruth is survived by her three sons and their wives: Wayne and Pam Seekell, Charlestown, RI; Roger and Paula Seekell, Louisville, KY; and Philip and Mary Seekell, Goffstown, NH; and two daughters and their husbands: Audrey and Joel Saint, Denver, PA and Carolyn and Thom Cunningham, Edinborough, Scotland. Also surviving are two sisters, Lucille Bowie of Durham, ME and Ramona Adler of Raynham, MA, plus nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by a grandson, Timothy Cunningham, and great-grandson, Andrew Colby. Ruth was born on April 25, 1926 in Taunton, MA to Charles and Florence Williams. Ruth graduated from Taunton High School in 1944. She married her childhood sweetheart in 1947, and they celebrated 63 years together before Warren’s death in 2010. A devoted wife and homemaker, Ruth supported her career Navy husband through several moves and deployments. In addition to her five children, Ruth was proud of her 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. A private family burial will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 2:00PM at Perryville Bible Church, 220 Moonstone Beach Road, Perryville, RI, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hagerstown Bible Church, c/o Tim Cunningham Memorial Fund, 203 Summit Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
