Ruth L. Rhodes

Ruth L. Rhodes, 92, of Winter St., Wakefield, died Monday at South County Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Rhodes Sr. Born in Wakefield, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillis (Smith) Tarbox. Mrs. Rhodes was a secretary for Dr. McGrath for many years and for the Engineering Department at The University of Rhode Island before retiring. She was a member of Church of the Ascension and St. Mary's Episcopal Church Women. She is survived by sons, Thomas Rhodes Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Wakefield and Jared Rhodes and his wife Gloria of Ashaway; grandchildren, Jared Rhodes II of East Providence and Shane Rhodes of Wakefield and Melissa Mairs of Wakefield; four great grandchildren and a sister Verda Tarbox of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late William and Everett Tarbox, Dorcas Brayman, Mary Stedman and Grace Tarbox. A Memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in The Church of the Ascension, 370 Main St., Wakefield. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Church of the Ascension.
