Ruth A. King, 92, of Wakefield, died peacefully Sunday. She was the wife of the late Charles H. King, and they were married for 64 years. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Findley) Gee. Mrs. King was a stay-at-home mother most of her life with the exception in the 1960’s, she was a personal secretary for Dr. Francis Horn at the University of Rhode Island. She loved cooking, knitting, but most of all taking care of her grandchildren and others people’s children. She is survived by a son, Steven King and his wife Wanda of Wakefield; four grandchildren Kevin King and his wife Dawn of Burbank, CA, Christine Short and her husband Josh of Wakefield, David King of Newport, and Brett Geaber and his wife Katrina of Wakefield; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Short and Raegan Short, Ella King and Samila King; and a son-in-law, John Geaber of South Kingstown. She was the mother of the late Diane Geaber and sister of the late George Gee, Ernest Gee, Russell Gee, John Gee, Lila Gardner, and Florence Gee. A funeral service will be held at 11 Thursday in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in White Brook Cemetery, Carolina.
