Rosemary H. Smith

August 1, 1943 — January 28, 2025

Rosemary H. Smith, 81, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Alfred B. Smith. Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Fields) Heibel.


Rosemary had a few jobs over the years but her most cherished time was spent as a hospitality worker at South County Hospital where she worked for 27 years forming many long-lasting friendships. Rosemary enjoyed many hobbies and was an active member of several groups. She spent many memorable years in the Scouting world first assisting her husband with their sons Boy Scout troops as well as leading both Brownie and Girl Scout troops for her daughters. Always involved in her children’s lives, she was a member of their school PTO groups, and a frequent volunteer or chaperone. Rosemary enjoyed many hobbies which include arts and crafts, reading, puzzles and perusing yard sales with her friends. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren watching dance recitals, sporting events and Scouting activities.


Rosemary is survived by her four children and their spouses, Eric Smith and his wife Melissa, Todd Smith and his wife Tina, Jennifer Coleman and her husband David, Amy Fallon and her late husband John “Jack” Fallon and ten grandchildren, Cassandra and Michaela Smith, Taylin and Nicholas Smith, Travis, Laurel, Genevieve and Annelise Coleman, Caitlin and Elijah Fallon, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Kathleen Taber and Ernest Heibel.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church. 114 High St., Wakefield, RI.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Rhode Island, 506B Curtis Corner Rd, Peace Dale, RI 02879.
