Rosario "Rosie" Papa

Rosario “Rosie” Papa, 85, of Wakefield, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Born in Pontecorvo, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Caterina "Catherine" (Carnevale) Papa. Rosie resided in Wakefield since 1973, where he was instrumental in opening Old Stone Bank and being part of the community. Prior to that, Rosie lived in Cranston and served in the US Army. He loved the beach, spending the day there with his family, walking the seawall in Narragansett and sitting in his car watching the waves. Rosie also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Quidnessett Country Club for many years. He was also a member of the Wakefield Rotary Club in town. Most of all, Rosie adored spending time with his five grandchildren, going to the beach with them, attending their events and just being Grandpa. He is survived by his loving children, John Papa and his wife Tracy, and Lorraine Simmons and her husband Jesse; his grandchildren, Katie and Ryan Papa and Eva, Ashley and Eiley Simmons; and his brother, Robert Papa. He was predeceased by his sister, Ines DiSanto. Services will be private.
