Ronald R. Osborne

Ronald Ross Osborne, 67, of Wakefield, died Friday, June 28, 2013. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Carleton “Mike” and Evelyn Elizabeth “Babe” (Ross) Osborne. Mr. Osborne was a member of the South Kingstown community his entire life. He graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1963 and then went on to graduate from the University of Rhode Island. Starting in 1970, he was the Controller for the University of Rhode Island for over 30 years. Mr. Osborne was an avid New England sports fan, who especially enjoyed the Red Sox and Patriots. Additionally, he enjoyed reading and learning about history and had an extensive knowledge of Civil War facts and trivia. He is survived by his two daughters, Amy Monroe of Middletown, and Heather Osborne-Roach of South Kingstown; 4 grandchildren, Ross Monroe, Tristan Roach, Julian Roach, and Liam Roach; and longtime friend and caretaker, Walter Pike of Wakefield. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 2 pm in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South County Hospital Wound Care Center, 100 Kenyon Ave, Wakefield, RI 02879.`
