Ronald E. Oatley, Sr., 70, of Pt. Judith Road, died Wednesday at the VA Medical Center, Providence. Born in South Kingstown, he was the nephew of the late Senator George Westlake. Mr. Oatley was a mechanic at Westlake’s Garage for many years. He previously had been a call man for the Narragansett Fire Department, a Narragansett Police Reserve, a page for the Rhode Island Senate, and was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Oatley enjoyed photography and was an excellent marksman. He will be remembered as a big and strong man who never complained and loved his children. He is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Oatley, Jr. of Narragansett and Scott C. Oatley of North Kingstown, a daughter Kelli Oatley of North Kingstown, a sister Sandra Petrocelli of Coventry and a cousin, Helen Westlake DeMayo of Narragansett. He was the father of the late Karen Oaltey and brother of the late Bruce and Clifford Oatley. Relatives and friends may attend a graveside service with military honors at 11 AM Saturday in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. Visiting hours are at the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday 6-9 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7295.
