Ronald Amaral

June 5, 1939 — June 17, 2022

Ronald Amaral, 83, of Charlestown, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Kathleen (Costello) Amaral. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Joseph and Louise (DiManno) Amaral, attended Warwick Veterans High School and earned a BS in Business Administration degree from Johnson and Wales University. Ron spent most of his career as a financial analyst for the US Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport. He loved music and played the tenor saxophone. Although he mastered a three handicap and played golf for decades, he was especially proud of his ability to throw a good jart, when jarts were all the rage. Outside of that, he served in the Army, loved the Red Sox, a cold beer after mowing the grass, teaching his kids how to hit to right field, and years of retirement in Venice, FL with Kathy. And he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Ron is survived by his two children, Kerry Benson and her husband Chip of Wellesley, MA, Christopher Amaral and his wife Jennifer Beauregard of Hopkinton, RI, six grandchildren Henry Benson, Scarlett Benson, Margaret Benson, Tyler Amaral, Mathew Amaral and Jacob Beauregard, and a brother, Joseph Amaral. He was the brother of the late Florence (Amaral) Jackson. A funeral home service for Ron will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
