Roger Owen Fenaughty

Roger Owen Fenaughty, 85, of his beloved Matunuck, passed away May 13th at home surrounded by his family.He was the beloved husband of Jean (Horchler) Fenaughty for 58 years. Born in Yonkers, NY, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Owen) Fenaughty. Raised in Hastings on Hudson, NY, he attended Cornell Agricultural School and the Westchester Institute of Technology. He served honorably in The U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Abbott, and was employed by IBM in NY for 39 years. After retiring he enjoyed working in his gardens and he loved his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jane Fenaughty Stone and her husband Robert; a son Peter Fenaughty and his wife Christine; five grandchildren, Robert & Elizabeth Stone, Alexander, Katherine and Claire Fenaughty; a brother Ronald Fenaughty; and a sister Dona Gomez; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Daniel and Bernard Fenaughty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday at St. Romuald Chapel, 61 Atlantic Avenue, Matunuck. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Tuesday 5-8 pm.
