Roberta J. Tankard

Roberta Tankard, formerly of North Kingstown and Cranston, died Thursday at Stone Ridge in CT, where she has been a resident for the past eight years. She was the beloved wife of Arthur J. Tankard for 57 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (DeFanti) Astbury. She was passionate about animals, especially dogs, and was active with the North Kingston Animal Protection League. Mrs. Tankard was an avid flower gardener and with her sensitivity to detail and color made her homes artistic and welcoming. Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Robert Tankard of Pleasant Hill, CA and Deborah Tankard of Woodstock, NY; daughter-in-law, Sherry Tankard; two grandchildren, Kyle Tankard and Jennifer Tankard; and two sisters, Connie Chappell of Wakefield and Elaine Reynolds, of Florida. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday 10-11 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM.
