Roberta D. Hopkins

Roberta DeWolf Hopkins, 89, of Bristol, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2023.


Born in Wakefield, Rhode Island, Roberta was the daughter of the late Robert and Lillian (Wordell) DeWolf. She graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1952 and from the University of Rhode Island in 1956. She also received a Master's Degree in Library Science from URI in 1972.


Roberta worked as an elementary school librarian for the Tiverton School Department, retiring in 1996. She was a dedicated volunteer at Linden Place in Bristol for many years. She had a love for books, music, travel and most of all a never-ending love for her family.


Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Geneva DeWolf. She is survived by her daughters, Martha Fitting (Phil) and Susan DiMasi (Steve) and brother Basil DeWolf; grandchildren Lauren Barefield, Jillian Rapport, Benjamin Fitting and Jonathan Lewis as well as four great grandchildren.


A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at The First Congregational Church of Bristol, 300 High Street Bristol, Rhode Island. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Linden Place, 500 Hope Street, Bristol, Rhode Island.
